A teacher in two places, a room double-booked, a class scheduled twice at once. The builder checks all three as slots are placed, and touching periods are not treated as overlapping — a lesson ending at 10:00 and one starting at 10:00 do not clash.
The same data becomes a teacher's teaching load, a student's week, a parent's view of where their child is, and leadership's picture of room use.
Build and adjust without the school watching over your shoulder, then publish once the clashes are cleared.
Periods are where attendance is taken and what the school calendar shows, so the timetable is not a document that has to be kept in step with anything.
