IB curriculum planning. Both platforms are strong here, and this is the row where the gap is smallest. ManageBac's planning is established and programme-specific; skodle's IB Engine models maps, units, concepts and inquiry, and connects those records forward into assessment and evidence.
DP and CP core. Both carry CAS, Extended Essay and TOK workflows. The difference is not depth of the core workflow itself — it is what sits beside it, covered in the concession below.
Assessment. ManageBac provides IB-aligned assessment and reporting. skodle connects criteria-based grading, moderation and reporting with AI-assisted drafting a teacher approves before it reaches a student or family.
AI. ManageBac's AI and partner-ecosystem capabilities vary by product and are not consistently named across its materials, which is why that row is a cross rather than a claim we cannot support. skodle names AI School Copilot and an AI Hub as platform layers.
School intelligence. ManageBac offers reporting and analytics. skodle makes School Intelligence a named layer: the Copilot answers from permission-checked records, the Risk Engine surfaces school-observable patterns, and Principal Intelligence reports what changed and needs attention.
Accreditation. Both connect evidence to IB standards and practices. Neither is a general multi-framework accreditation tool on the materials we reviewed for either vendor.
Cambridge and CBSE. ManageBac's materials describe local and national curriculum support alongside IB. skodle's Cambridge and CBSE schools are modelled in the school structure — boards, stages, year groups and sections — sharing the same assessment, attendance, reporting and intelligence layers, though the curriculum engine itself is built around the IB programmes; see the limit stated below.
Whole-school operations. ManageBac's public positioning centres on IB teaching, learning and reporting. skodle extends into admissions, finance, HR, library, meetings, interventions and multi-campus alongside the same programme workflows.
Where ManageBac is the better answer
This is the one comparison on this site where a single, specific fact should end the conversation before the rest of the table gets read: ManageBac carries the official IB route for candidate registration and eCoursework submission, through IBIS. skodle does not carry that integration today. For planning, assessment, standardisation, portfolios, reporting and accreditation evidence, the two are close; for the March upload window on the Extended Essay, the TOK essay and the internally assessed subject work, only one of these platforms is the one that actually submits it.
If your DP coordinator depends on that integration — and most do — that is a real, decisive reason to stay on ManageBac, or to keep it running alongside whatever else the school uses for the rest of its operations. Ask us about it directly rather than discovering it in March.
